THE BERWYN NEWS Friday, March 10, 1933 4 Miss Rutu Bambrick entertained her Berwyn bridge club at luncheon Thursday at her home in Austin. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kowarsch, 3619 Harvey avenue, will move to 1833 Grove avenue next week. The w'omen in the Ritz apartment building, 1301 Ridgeland avenue, have organized a bridge club which meets every week.

Mrs. T. I. Shartle, 6908 29th place, returned last week from Charleston, 111., where she has been visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs.

J. S. Goble. Mrs. Wm.

"Sidall, 3107 Wenonah avenue, returned Saturday from Providence, R. where she was called by the serious illness of her mother. She was in the East for five weeks. Rehearsals have started for the play which is put on each year by the Emerson Parent-teacher Association. The name of the play is Oh Doctor.

Mr. and Mrs. George Kloos, 1901 Clarence avenue, returned last Saturday from a two-week holiday spent at New Orleans. Mr. and Mrs.

S. F. Champion, 3338 Oak Park avenue, entertained at a dinner and swimming party at the Hamilton Club of Chicago Thursday evening of last week. The guests were Mr. and Mrs.

Archibald Bouton, Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Sellen, Wood-bridge Champion and Phil ion.

Saturday evening at the Oak Park Ave. Baptist church occurred the 38th Anniversary Concert given by the Ladies Aid Society. The program opened with a prelude given by Loring Nelson, organist of the A reading Was given by Miss Elsie Young. The Covenant womans chorus of Chicago furnished the remainder of a most delightful evenings program. o-o OAK PARK AVE.

BAPTIST AID CREATES CIRCLES Mrs. Jack Johnson of 31st street is recovering from an attack of quinsy. Miss Kate Boden, 3416 Clinton avenue, spent the week end with friends in Evanston. Mr. and Mrs.

Ed. F. Reynolds en-teitained their bridge club at their home, 3139 Maple avenue, Saurday evening. Miss Marian Foster, 3322 Clinton avenue, was the week end guest of Mr. and Mrs.

Jerome Spafford of Sterling. Mr. and Mrs. Harry L. Jonathan will enteitain their bridge club Saturday evening at their home, 3117 Wisconsin avenue.

Mrs. Boudreau of 6438 28th street entertained Mr. and Mrs. C. P.

Eck and Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Hall Friday evening of last week. Mrs. Sophie Harvies circle of the Congregational church will meet today (Friday) at the home of Mrs.

Scandrett on Maple avenue. Mrs. O. Stickelrnan of 7132 32nd street is visiting relatives in Baltimore, Md. She attended the inauguration of the president of the United States.

The O. E. S. will hold a stated meeting Friday evening at the Masonic temple. After the regular business the remainder of the evening will be spent at bridge.

Mrs. Frank Miller, sister of A. F. Speckman of Kenilworth avenue, left Friday of last week for her home in Paducah, after a visit with her, brother and family. The board meeting of the League of Women Voters will be held Wednesday, March 15, at the home of the president, Mrs.

Geo. Merwin, 3315 Oak Park avenue. The Womans Society of the First Baptist church will hold its annual business meeting and election of officers Friday at 10:30 A. at the church. A luncheon program will llow the business meeting.

Geo. Wise and son David of 3316 Grove avenue, motored to Milwaukee and were week end guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Chamberlain. The M.

R. S. circle of the Methodist church held a luncheon meeting Wednesday at the home of Mrs. H. H.

Rich, 3445 Home avenue. Mrs. F. Criswell and Mrs. Harold Bishop were the assisting hostesses.

The March meeting of the Womens Foreign Missionary Society of the Methodist church was held at the home of Mrs. Robert D. Bresee, 3501 Oak Park avenue, Tuesday. An interesting program followed the one oclock luncheon. Mrs.

A. B. Edwards, 3205 Wisconsin avenue, attended the Thursday Contract Club, which met at the home of Mrs. A. B.

Snider in Blue Island. Mrs. Geo. Schmidt entertained her sewing club Thursday evening at her home in Riverside. Mrs.

Clara LeBaron, Mrs. Virgil R. Stephens, and Mrs. Wm. Rutledge went to Evansville, Saturday, to be present at a family gathering in honor of Mrs.

LeBarons mother, Mss. Jane Baker, who celebrated her 96th birthday. Invitations have been issued for the marriage of Miss Bernice Corson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard F.

Corson, 7044 35th street, to Walter B. MacDonald, son of Dr. and If. L. MacDonald, 3322 Clinton avenue, which will occur at the home of the bride Saturday afternoon, March 18, at four-thirty oclock.

LOCAL MENTION Dr. J. J. Plachota 3428 Oak Park avenue has been ill for the past week. Charmina Crum, 6508 Sinclair avenue, is ill with chicken pox.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hyde are spending several weeks at Hot Springs, Ark. Mrs. 0.

N. Olson is visiting with her daughter, Mrs. R. Moline of Gary, for a few days this week. Mrs.

Andrew Smith, GG19 31st street, is recovering from a severe attack of influenza. Mr. and Mrs. P. Harold Stoneham will entertain the Somerset Club at their home, 3508 Grove avenue, Saturday evening.

Mrs. Jesse Hall will act as Vice-Grand and Mrs. Lela Hiler as Left Supporter of the Noble Grand Fri-dav evening at Clyde Rebekah Lodge. Mrs. Whiteside of Wesley avenue is at the Masonic hospital where she is recovering from a recent operation.

Mrs. A. B. Edwards entertained the members of the Contract Club at luncheon Wednesday at her ome, 3205 Wisconsin avenue. Mis.

Lass circle of the Methodist church held a luncheon meeting Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Walter Flinn 3739 Clinton avenue. The Book Club will meet Monday, March 13, at the home of Mrs. Alban Wasson Coen, 3117 Home avenue. Mrs.

Arthur MacNeal will give the book review. Rev. Charles Carmen, pastor ot the Morgan Park Baptist church, was the speaker at the father and son banquet Monday evening at the Bap tist church. Mis. Jane Seal of 6810 35th street has been ill for several days.

Miss Florence Finley entertained a group of friends Saturday even at her home, 3646 Grove avenue. Mrs. Lawrence Johnson entertained the members of a recently organized Book Club at her home, 6825 30th place, Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Henry P.

Reid gave the book review. Mr. and Mrs. Eber J. Hubbard, 3206 Wisconsin avenue, and Dr.

and Mrs. Chas. F. Hubbard of Austin motored to Peoria, Streator, and Ottawa on business last week. The officers and teachers of the Baptist Sunday school held their annual pre-Easter breakfast at the church Sunday morning at seven oclock.

The Theta Beta class served the breakfast. A meeting of the Wheel and Distaff of the High Prairie Trail Chapter A. was held at the home of Mrs. J. L.

L. Edgarton and son Laurence returned Thursday of last week from a month vacation in Florida. Their daughter Colline, wdio is a student at Northwestern University, spent the mid-semester vacationing with them in Florida. Mr. and Mrs.

P. L. Roise and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Klem of Oak Park entertained the members of their bridge club at dinner Friday evening of last week.

The affair was given at the Roise home 3518 Clinton The Comumnity circle of the Congregational church gave a birthday luncheon at the church Wednesday. The Merry Wives will meet today (Friday) at the home of Mrs. Virgil It. Stephens, 3121 Wisconsin avenue. Douglas Sidall, 3107 Wisconsin avenue, has recovered from a recent attack of the flu.

Mr. and Mrs. LaRue of Thornton, spent several days the first of the week at the home of the late Geo. Ashby, 3409 Oak Park avenue. Mr.

and Mrs. Albert Bargeof Riverside are vacationing for several weeks motoring through Florida and other Sounthern points. Mrs. Ralph Nold, 3245 Wisconsin avenue, was hostess to the Noble Grands of the Rebekah lodge at her home Monday evening. Tuesday evening, the Senior Queen Esthers of the Methodist church sponsored a church night dinner.

Over 200 attended. Mrs. A. C. McGuire entertained the members of the Sew Club at her home, 3315 Kenilworth at luncheon Tuesday.

Bert Ashby of Hinsdale, who has been spending the winter in Coral Gables, was called home on account of the death of his father, Geo. Ashby. Mrs. Otto A. Jabureck was hostess to her circle of the Congregational Ladies Aid Society at luncheon Wednesday at her home, 3327 Euclid avenue.

Chapter AV, P.E.O., met Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Robert Teeter, 3111 Wisconsin avenue. Mrs. L. B.

Fisher was the assisting hostess. Mrs. Wm. C. Kordsiemon, of 3429 Wisconsin avenue, motored to Rush-ville, 111., Wednesday to spend several days at the home of her brother, Kenneth Moore.

S. Brown entertained ten guests from Riverside, Berwyn, and Oak Park at a St. Patricks luncheon on Wednesday at the home of Mrs. E. S.

Church 3129 Wenonah avenue returned Saturday from Minneapolis where they had been attending the convention of the Department of Superintendents of the National Education Association. Mr. and Mrs. George Gorman, 1403 East avenue, entertained a number of friends last Sunday. The guests were Mr.

and Mrs. Rudolph Misek, Robert Gorman, and Mr. and Mrs. E. J.

Drije. Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Middleton moved to 1227 Elmwood avenue from 1318 Cuyler avenue. They will hold a house-warming at their new home tomorrow.

Their son, Edward, a student at Morton, will render selections on the tuba. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Eddy of 177 Herrick road, Riverside, will move to California about the first of June, i Mr. Eddy is with the Prudential In-surahee company, and has been trans-j erred to the San Francisco territory where he will act as district sales manager.

Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Weber entertained at a Depression bridge Sat-1 urday evening at their home, 2836 Wenonah avenue. The guests included Mr.

and Mrs. O. G. Hale, Mr. and Mrs.

Ray U. Myers, and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. T.

Sidall. The prizes were awarded to Mr. and Mrs. Myers. Mr.

and Mrs. C. C. Cleborne held wedding party last Sunday in hon-! or of Mr. and Mrs.

Robert Koch at their home 3223 Home avenue. The Ladies Aid of the Oak Park Ave. Baptist church had its first meeting under the leadership of its new President, Mrs. Carl Goding, Thursday of last week. The most important decision of the afternon was forming of two circles of which Esther Grandholm and Pearl Bergstrom are the chairmen.
