He had been ill three months. He was bom January 9, 1863 in Holland and came to the U. S. A. at the age of 28.

He settled on a farm near Shannon, later moving five miles east of Lanark to the I farm where he lived for thirty-five years until he returned and moved to Forreston in January, 1947. March 7, 1896 he was. married 'to Henrietta Johnson, who survives. They would have celebrated their 53rd wedding anniver-sary the first Monday in March.
